More giving to social good causes in 2018!
Our business has always believed in giving to social good causes since our founding.
For thirty years before www.socialgoodinsurance.com and Good Neighbor Insurance actually existed, our owner served in leadership roles in the non-profit community in SE Asia. Since 1979, he has continued to travel back to SE Asia yearly to volunteer, providing leadership and mentoring. His son (our co-owner) was born overseas as a TCK and also returns almost yearly.
We also employ locals overseas, providing job training, and excellent wages, in an area not as well known for tech jobs.
Since we purchased our building in the greater Phoenix area of Arizona, we opened up our offices to share space with a non-profit that works in close partnership with locals in Indonesia.
In 2018, we committed to the Cinta Baca Foundation, donating a portion of our total income to help Cinta Baca (“Love to Read”) open new libraries within the country of Indonesia!
Introducing Cinta Baca
Cinta Baca (pronounced, “Chēēn-tah Bah-chah”) was created in 2001 by Indonesians for Indonesians and employs all Indonesian staff. Their core programs focus on Smart Reading, Smart Learning, Smart Health, and Smart Virtue.
Did you know?
In Indonesia, books can be expensive, especially for the poor, and only 1% of schools have a library. This creates a barrier for young girls and boys to become literate and can limit their dreams and their mobility as well as their ability to later take care of their families. Lack of education can lead to exploitation and political instability.
The Cinta Baca Foundation now has 117 libraries in seven regional areas (Aceh, Medan, Palembang, Lampung, West Java, Baubau, and Manokwari). They offer literacy programs, book discussion groups, educational and health programs for children, community engagement programs, as well as “library tours.”
They also have mobile libraries that they take to villages to make books and education accessible in new areas, for those who cannot get to larger towns or cities.
Good Neighbor Insurance is honored to become the first corporate sponsor of Cinta Baca in the USA, helping to spread the word, and giving to social good to help empower the citizens of Indonesia learn to read, and love to read.

Not your typical travel insurance company
Staff at www.socialgoodinsurance.com and Good Neighbor insurance have lived and served in Turkey, Uzbekistan, Indonesia, Russia, former Yugoslavia, and many points in between. We are committed to developing local, skilled, well-paid workers in Indonesia and SE Asia, as well as exploring new opportunities overseas. We are also committed to keeping people safe overseas. Affordably. Because insurance doesn’t have to be expensive, it just has to be good.
Good Neighbor Insurance has also been giving to social good causes and helping meet needs around the world since our founding in 1997. We are growing this social good investment by partnering with Cinta Baca in addition to our current giving. It is estimated to equal $30,000USD for 2018.
Together, we are making a difference.
